We do not use a one shoe fits all approach. Instead, we adapt to the individual needs of our students with dyscalculia. Our approach is unique as we take into account the learning preferences, energy levels and personalities of the dyscalculia students we tutor.
We laugh, chat, speed it up, slow down, tell jokes, stand up, sit down and shake the Maths out. The success of our tuition is based on this and a strong belief that students will learn. We go at our students’ pace which can sometimes be very fast or very slow. We’ve found that using this approach can have far reaching effects on the children’s lives – not just in Maths.
Happy Families
When my son was diagnosed with dyscalculia, I felt it imperative that I found a dyscalculia tutor who specialised in this area, which led us to Adrian. Because of the specialised methods Adrian uses to teach learners with dyscalculia, my son is now confident that he can master areas of maths that would have once been hesitant to approach. Adrian’s positivity and praise encouraged my son to learn to enjoy mathematics again, and has made a great deal of progress. I couldn’t recommend a better mathematics tutor! (B.Powell Norris)
Lawrence Ball gave maths coaching to four of my sons over a period of about three years. He was always totally reliable, adaptable to the needs of the boys at the time, and very good at building self-confidence.He has a happy knack of being able to teach in a way that uses humour and is innovative, whilst still keeping a very firm grasp on the need for a pupil to understand the fundamentals and have a solid basis for their learning.I would be very happy to recommend him to others looking for Maths teaching. (The Rt Hon Baroness Hayman House Of Lords)
George has a way of explaining things that my son finds very easy to understand. We wish we had started sooner, but the revision was excellent. (Renée, Holloway)
Who needs a dyscalculia tutor in London?
Someone who
- does not feel confident about Maths
- does not know their times-tables
- forgets the intermediate stage of working out in their head.
- cannot count backwards
- finds that numbers get jumbled easily
When should I get a dyscalculia tutor in London?
Difficulties in Maths can start at an early age and the sooner your child can receive intervention the better so that small difficulties don’t turn into a fear of Maths. Our dyscalculia tutors work hard to raise our student’s self esteem.
I am a parent. Can I tutor my dyscalculic children?
We are big believers in home education. You know your child well; give it a try. Too busy?. Too Tired?. It ends up in a fight?. Let us try.
What training do your dyscalculia tutors have?
Our tutors draw upon years of experience and self education; Lawrence Ball has been helping children and adults for some 30 years achieving phenomenal results. We complement our tuition with techniques from literature on dyscalculia. We are particularly interested in the work of Steve Chinn, Ronit Bird and Jane Emerson with children with dyscalculia.
How many hours will my child need for dyscalculia tuition?
We recommend a session of 1 hour per week. We find that in 1 hour we can achieve an enormous amount.
